I think We Got it Right This Time.

Thursday, 30 July, 2015 -( 74˚F / 23˚C – Dark and partly cloudy in Ithaca @ 4:15 am  &&&  55˚F / 13˚C in New Brunswick, where I guess it’s still dark and ‘clear’ at 5:15 am Atlantic Time  &&&  55˚F / 13˚C in North Pole, Alaska, where it’s “Mostly Cloudy & might not be that dark right now at 12:15 am Alaska Time )-

I gotta tell ya – I saw this screen shot for the first time yesterday, when Jim W in New Brunswick sent it to me while we were skyping about my latest attempts at improving the look of this blog-  & Except for the weirdly glowing green eyes, this could be my daughter, Rachel- I sent her a copy, I don’t know if she’s seen it yet- but wow- I’m impressed. Then Jim told me this version of that character disappeared/was wiped in a crash- and subsequent efforts to get her back failed, newer attempts were always just a bit off. So Maybe Rachel ‘haunted’ our world while we were trying to work on it and when she got bored with the design in those days and left, she brought her avatar with her?

I closed my eyes and pushed the buttons and gave it one more try and even sampled the ‘premium’ themes at WordPress. Then I tried this one, which I had tried yesterday, and discovered that I could change the fonts, and I went for it. It’s still not perfect. I’d like to have the two widget columns back, I’d like to have the captions beneath the ‘media’ left justified, but hey- this is close. And I liked some of the photos and screen captures that Jim uploaded here for me when I made him and administrator, and I found out I could tell them to change themselves in some kind of random order. – Or would ‘random’ imply something more like chaos than order? I give up- Anyway. I hope the world hasn’t fallen apart while I’ve been looking at my daughter as an extra dimensional being who can jump in and out of computer simulated worlds and get away with that- hmmmm- We’ll have to ask her once again if she wants to post anything here.

Wednesday, 29 July, 2015 -( 62˚F / 17˚C & clear at the moment @ 6:05 am here in Ithaca, New York & I don’t have time to check on New Brunswick and Alaska right now. )-

“DreamCat” – The Character that started us into developing out Multi User Role Playing Game- When we saw how easily we could finally get into world building and character building- but then life hit us with its little surprises and decided we had to work our tails off in the real world and left us nowhere near enough time and energy to finish that world and start letting civilians play around in it. (NOT YET—) Rolled in the demo section of our world building stuff.

I thought a new theme for this blog would be a good idea. But WordPress and its affiliates want to bleed as much money from anybody as they can and make their free blogs less and less ‘Elegant’ and harder to surf through. I might end up changing this theme again vey soon (like maybe after I get some sleep?) because I freekin hate non serif fonts.

I could almost believe they force developers to make their free themes as featureless and hard to use as possible.

There were a couple themes that came close to being ‘acceptable’ But there was something not quite right about each of them. 

So I’m ‘composing’ this article in the ‘2014’ theme and the only thing I like about it is the captions under the ‘media’ – it’s all left justified instead of centered. But the font is going to drive me to distraction.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s bid to buy votes and convince voters that the opposition wants to take food out of their babies’ mouths is a lie. The Harper Government has ‘Clawed Back’ the ‘old’ child benefits and substituted this propaganda campaign, without explaining that the new benefits are taxable, so the average benefit would amount to a little over $13.00 Canadian money per month – —djo—

& So far, nobody has won a “Nice Job” from me by telling me that the ‘other’ progressive law recently passed in France makes it illegal to design planned early obsolescence into products.

CAFR1 MARKET RANTS POST OF 07/27/15 at 10:07 AM EASTERN TIME.

This Wednesday is the FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) monthly meeting in which the determination is made for a interest rate increase. The announcement comes out at 2 PM Eastern time.

Interest rates have held at their lowest levels for several years. All have been watching for the first move by the Fed towards the 1st increase.

Well, the data they look at to make their determination, Unemployment, GDP, Durable Goods orders, etc. have almost fallen in line. The market chatter has been looking for the 1st increase to take place in September or October of this year. From the writing on the wall, and in my opinion, I give it a 60% probability the 1st increase will be announced tomorrow at 2 PM Eastern time.

At last months meeting, one member pushed to have the increase start last month. At this meeting the data that came out since the last meeting supports an increase.

Bottom line if they do so? Some of the wildest swings seen for quite some time in the interest rate futures, metals, dollar index, stock indexes, etc. US 30 Year Bonds could see a swing of 3 to 5 points to the downside . Silver a $1.25 to $2 swing to the upside.  Stock indexes to the downside, then a massive swing to the upside. All will be on a roller-coaster ride for sure.

If they do not? The chatter from the meeting will probably indicate doing so where it will have the same effect but not as visceral.
